ILTexas KSHS Student Driving and Parking Expectations
Privileges and Revocation: Driving and parking on campus are privileges for licensed drivers in good academic and disciplinary standing. These privileges can be revoked by the principal for due cause.
Safety Requirements: Students must drive carefully and safely at all times. Courteous and safe operation of vehicles is mandatory to ensure safety.
Documentation: A copy of the student’s current driver’s license and car insurance (listing the student as an insured driver) is required to purchase a parking permit.
Vehicle Registration and Fees: The student must register their vehicle with administration in the front office. Parking stickers for painted spots cost $85.00 ($35 + $50 deposit). The $50.00 deposit is refundable once the parking spot is painted back over by May 31, 2025.
Permission Form: Parents must give written permission for their child to drive to and from school, acknowledging the risks and responsibilities.
Driving Regulations:
No loitering at cars.
Speed limit on school property is 10 mph.
Yield to pedestrians and buses.
No passing other moving vehicles.
Drive maturely and stay on roadways.
Leave school grounds promptly unless attending extracurricular activities.
Arrive on time; tardiness can lead to suspension of parking privileges.
Leaving school grounds requires administrative permission.
Penalties for Violations:
First offense: 3-day loss of driving privileges.
Second offense: 5-day loss of privileges.
Third offense: Loss of privileges for the remainder of the year.
Compliance: If privileges are lost, the student cannot drive on or to campus. Unspecified issues will be handled at the administration's discretion. Parking Permit refunds will not be provided.
